There have been lots of talk off the record about refining. I have been told Luk+dex is the key to refining.. i have been told all you need is 120 job lvl.. ya okay bullshit.. in order to make +9 or 10 valk.. what is that secret? or how do i refine weapons.. basically my question is; Should i make a legit 255 whitesmith for refining or buy a max stats one.? Both will use nothing but enriched products..

Let me know your thoughts,

It's all in the hands of fate. As for weapon refinement, the best possible solution is to use a jlvl 120 WS as your job level is the only factor taken into account for upgrading in this aspect. (The skill even reads Dex/Luk take no additional stride in this process). As for armor refinements, well, it's all to the old man. Unfortunately he sucks >:|. I normally +7 with Hollenghren and use enriched's for the rest of the way through the NPC in payon. I have to say that ultimately having a WS being able to refine armors would be lovely, unfortunately we are stuck with the NPC doing such and as is why +10's are in such a rarity. No real secret, just all luck. but be assured, you're ALWAYS going to break more then you actually manage to get when it comes t armor. Unless you're my wife, that bish oozes luck. >:|

the trick to refine weapons is

you refine all to the same number

first all to 5+
then all to 6+
then 7+
then 8+
then 9+
and those who are left you try to take themn to 10+

if you try to take them directly from 0+-10+
you break alot more

Luk + Dex is key to CREATING weapons, forging, etc. doesnt do crap to refining

that'd be right, for weapons anyway. refining weapons is ONLY based off of your job level. making a +9 or 10 valk equipment is just luck with the NPC, thats it, seeing as you cant upgrade armor yourself (thank god).

what is that secret? or how do i refine weapons.. basically my question is; Should i make a legit 255 whitesmith for refining or buy a max stats one.? Both will use nothing but enriched products..
you don't even need a 255 whitesmith, just one with a max job level (which usually happens to me at around level 180). and last i checked, you cant upgrade with enriched oridecon, only that NPC in payon can. as for the enriched elu... well thats just luck, doesnt matter what job you are.

And this is based on what mathematical formula? If you intend on taking refining all the way up to +10, it doesn't matter whether you do it directly or step-by-step. You just feel like you're breaking a lot more.

It's actually what I do, but the part about breaking a lot more is obviously bull. I think it's good if you want to get it to high refines without breaking everything, but if you're determined to make it +10, sometimes a do-or-die approach might conversely save you some materials from high-refine breakages.

Ahaha im sorry but you do not break it more, probably the same chance, jsut then, if you refine it 1 by 1, there is a relatively high chance you will be stuck with a lowly upgraded 1.

It is the same chance of breaking them. Doing that is just a way to refine more organized. Lol.

I do it in this same way + I always leave one with higher upgrade for save [to do not finish with everything broken]

OK, I would agree with the fact that they break more when done straight. Back when you could harvest Valk sheilds. I would collect about 200 a day from the same Rang. Refining all till I had about 30x +8. Then from there I would make 1 if I was lucky now with e.elu maybe 2+10s. I tried 200 V.sheilds straight going for +10 and all Broke. And the One at a time way lets you give the other refined ones away to guildies, once you make your +10. If your not greedy.

ALSO. It helps to use the blackjack +1 -1 probability scale and use crap to break looking for best possible odds. I find if I get 3 breaks in a row at the same refine level the next one has much better probability of making it.

+10 is always a crap shoot though.

Somewhat true, but you can go even beyond that and go to 120 for an even higher chance.

does neone know the exact %age of upgrading a weapon to +10? it says the success chance is 10% higher than the payon npc on wiki when ur job level 70 and an even higher percentage if ur 120 job level. cuz then if it's at least 10% chance for making a +10 weapon, would it be safe to say if u had 10 of the same weapon and try to upgrade it to +10, chances are ull get a +10 weapon at least once when u attempt to upgrade all of them in a row?
